The Story
THE BEGINNING OF A WAY OF SEEING

From an early age, my mother was always drawn to antiques.
Not as a collector, nor because of any deep technical knowledge, but because of a natural attraction to objects with a story.
I grew up surrounded by that curiosity, wondering how you could tell an authentic piece from a reproduction, what made a genuine antique rather than something simply made to look old. I remember asking her many times:
"How do you know if this is real?"
The answer was rarely definitive.
Over time, I came to understand that there isn't always a clear answer, and that this kind of knowledge is built through observation, comparison, and, sometimes, even through making mistake

THE HORSE
The first antique I ever found for my mother was a wooden carousel horse.
It had carved flowers on the saddle, its original pedals, and a remarkably well-preserved tail. I did not choose it at random. Without realising it, I had found the piece that would mark the beginning of everything.
Over time, that horse became the symbol of Circa.
The word *circa* had been with me for many years. It means “approximately” or “around”. And a carousel does nothing but turn around its own axis, always returning to the same point.
Suddenly, it all made sense.
Not as a brand, but as a way of seeing things: understanding that objects return, that authenticity endures, and that time, when properly understood, adds value.
WHAT IS CIRCA TODAY?
Circa does not follow trends. Each piece is carefully selected for its character, quality, and ability to bring personality to an interior.
SUNBURSTS |
We have always been drawn to these forms, which is why we created a dedicated family within the shop, bringing together lighting, mirrors — including a carefully curated selection of Vallauris pieces — and decorative objects inspired by solar motifs.
This is not a passing category, but an extension of Circa with its own distinctive and recognisable identity.
