This large vintage demijohn, produced by Viresa, one of the most important Spanish glass manufacturers of the 20th century, is crafted in hand-blown green glass and dates from the mid-20th century.
Originally intended for storing wine, oils or spirits, pieces of this scale are now appreciated primarily for their sculptural presence and the material quality of traditional Spanish glassmaking.
Material and craftsmanship
Made from thick hand-blown glass, this piece displays natural colour variations, small air bubbles and subtle irregularities, all characteristic of traditional artisanal production.
The translucent green tone responds beautifully to light, enhancing the volume and curves of the classic wide-bodied silhouette with its gently tapered neck.
