This Samoes modular unit, designed by Anna Castelli Ferrieri, is an iconic example of Italian design from the 1970s, clearly reflecting the Space Age aesthetic through its soft geometric lines and functional modular concept. Conceived as a versatile storage element, it embodies the experimental and forward-looking spirit of post-war Italian design.
Manufactured in white ABS plastic, the module was designed to adapt easily to different domestic uses, functioning equally well as a bedside table, auxiliary storage unit or flexible modular element within a contemporary interior.
Design and craftsmanship
The unit features a compact cubic form with rounded edges, characteristic of Castelli Ferrieri’s approach to plastic furniture design. The removable top allows easy access to the interior, while the stackable structure reflects the modular logic that defined much Italian furniture experimentation during the 1960s and 1970s.
Mounted on small castors, the piece offers practical mobility without compromising its visual balance. The smooth ABS surface highlights the material innovation of the period and remains faithful to the original industrial finish.
