Vintage Art Nouveau Revival Lady and Fan Trinket Dish

A decorative vintage trinket dish featuring an elegant female figure beside an elaborately detailed fan.

Made from heavy cast metal with an antiqued gold-tone finish, it is a striking example of the Art Nouveau Revival taste of the twentieth century.

Description

The piece

This sculptural vintage dish depicts a stylised female figure standing beside a large open fan richly decorated with flowers, scrolls and ornamental relief.

The flowing silhouette, theatrical pose and elaborate detailing draw inspiration from the visual language of Art Nouveau and the Belle Époque. 

It is made from heavy cast metal with an antiqued gold-tone finish. Darker tonal variations and touches of green patina within the recessed decoration emphasise the depth of the relief and give the surface a naturally aged appearance.

The shallow fan-shaped dish can be used to hold jewellery, keys, coins or a small bar of soap, while the figure also gives it the presence of a compact decorative sculpture.

Where it works best

This unusual piece works beautifully on a dressing table, bedside table, bathroom shelf or entrance console.

It can be used as a jewellery dish, trinket tray, soap holder or simply displayed as a decorative object.

Condition

Good vintage condition, with surface wear, tonal variation and patina consistent with age and use.
